A little more about Charlie...
Please share and help this gorgeous boy find his forever home, or even a foster home, in the UK.
Large dogs often struggle to get noticed in kennels, but please don't scroll past Charlie. He is a wonderful young dog who absolutely adores people and has so much love to give.
Charlie was rescued after his owner was seen standing by the roadside planning to hand him over to the dog catchers, which would almost certainly have meant a tragic end for him. Before his rescue, he had spent his entire life living on a chain. After we took him in, he weighed just 25kg and was severely underweight. Thanks to the support of a sponsor, he was placed on a high-quality diet and has gradually gained weight, bringing him much closer to his healthy target weight of around 40kg.
Although he is now safe, kennel life is proving difficult for Charlie. He is only around two years old and, like many young dogs, he finds confinement incredibly frustrating. He longs for attention, affection and the freedom to enjoy life as part of a family.
Charlie can be selective around other dogs and is not particularly comfortable with male dogs, although he can get along with female dogs. However, people are truly his favourite thing in the world. He loves human company, craves affection and would happily spend his days by your side, soaking up cuddles and companionship. After the life he has had, he deserves nothing more than a soft bed, a warm home and someone to love him.
Like many rescue dogs, Charlie has never lived in a home environment, so he will need patience and understanding as he learns the basics of family life. This will include house training, lead walking and basic obedience. With consistency, kindness and positive guidance, there is every reason to believe he will thrive.
Charlie is approximately two years old and is currently in the Balkans, but he is ready to travel to the UK for the right foster or forever home.
Could you be the person to show Charlie what love, comfort and security really feel like? Even if you cannot adopt, sharing his story could help him find the home he has waited so long for. ๐พ๐กโค๏ธ
