Our adoption process - How it works

To determine whether an adopter is right for one of our animals and vice versa,

we have a thorough adoption process which is as follows:

Please also note you will need to go through the same process even if you just plan to foster.

Step 1:

Research

You do your research! Look through our dog bio's and choose one or a few that you feel best suits your household. Read through our FAQ's and make sure this is the right decision for you.

Step 2:

Initial questions

Here, we like to find out a little about you, and get a sense of your home,  your lifestyle, preferences and experience. There are no right or wrong answers but it will help us determine whether one of our animals would be the right fit for you and which one might be more suitable if so.

Step 3:

Home Video

The next step is for you to submit a home video walking and talking us around your home and garden. With a particular focus on where the animal will eat, sleep, drink and generally play and hang out. We also like to like to ensure the garden is safe and escape proof!

Step 4:

Application form

The third stage is for you to submit an actual application form for the animal you are interested in. This gives us more  in depth information about you and your household including your plans for looking after a dog once it arrives.

Step 4:

Home check and references

We will contact your referees and organise a home check as needed.

Step 5:

Video chat

Finally, you will have a video chat with a member of our team. They will have a few final questions to make sure the dog is the right fit for your family and we will happily answer any of your questions and give you all the information you need about the next steps to finalise the adoption.

Step 6:

Health checks and Transport

Once the adoption in finalised, we will book your animal for travel with a third party transport company who will bring your new family member to you. In most cases this will be at least a month* so the animal can have their pre-travel health checks and we can sort the paperwork!

* Sometimes a dog may not be ready to travel for a few months but we will have made you aware of that up front. In addition, unexpected delays can happen and you will need to be as flexible as possible.
